Blu Girls set to compete at the Asian Games


After their recent victory at the Asean Women’s Softball Championships, the Blu Girls are now aiming for another title in the upcoming Asian Games in Guangzhou, China from November 12 to 27.

The Blu Girls are rigorously preparing for the Asian Games, conducting their practices and trainings from Tuesday to Friday at 7am-11am at the Rosario Sports Complex. On Mondays, the team undergoes Weight Training and is attended to by Sports Psychologists. They also have exhibition games against the Men’s teams on weekends to make up for their lack of international exposure. On November 8, Blu Girls will have their Acclimatization Process in Baguio.

The Blu Girls Philippine softball team is led by catcher Lovelyn Maganda who received the MVP, best hitter and best slugger honors in the Asean championship in Jakarta last July. Playing for the team are Syrel Ramos, Joy Lasquite, Cora Sobere, Dione Macasu, Julie Marie Muyco, Veronica Belleza, Esmeralda Tayag, Sherylou Valenzuela, Sarah Jane Agravante, Lovelyn Maganda, Alexandra Louise Zuluaga, Elma Parohinog, Marlyn Francisco, Kristine Marie Drilon, Joan Pioquinto, Francisca Altomonte and Anavic Jugos.

Blu Girls will depart for China on November 17.
